Have A Diagnosis But No Visible Symptoms, What Should I Expect?
Hi. I was diagnosed with Cardiac hATTR Amyloidosis in Aug ‘22, age 52, following a DPD (PYP) scan based on family history. I am on Vindaquel ( Tafamadis) since Dec ‘22. Have had nerve conduction studies, and all looks ok. Currently being examined every 6 months for neuropathy symptoms. Anyone ever been in a similar situation and if so how did things progress for you?
Hi Roy, thanks for your reply and I'm glad to hear that you are just marginally worse over the 3 year period. The nerve conduction studies were to assist in determining if I was showing any signs of neuropathy, not to treat neuropathy. Other extended family members, older than I, with Amyloidosis have had both cardiac and neurological symptoms, hence the reason I was sent for these tests.
Hi Mary9 ....... Sorry you have had to join our club but you sound in good shape. I am 87, three years into this nightmare but have not heard of your tests. If you simply take some weight off (if needed) that's the best thing I can recommend. and just get on with life. Don't let it take over. If I may ask you a question .... I have been diagnosed with neuropathy but have never had the "nerve conduction studies". What are they for? I didn't know you could get rid of neuropathy.
In encouragement I can only say that after 3 years I am only marginally worse.
And that is good news. Good luck to you.
