Hi All Does Anyone Have GI Tract Issues Since Having A Stem Cell Treatment?

A MyAmyloidosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I’m hoping this is a temporary issue (like IBS) I’m guessing it could be a result from the chemo used during the sct in April. I’m thinking I may need to change my diet? I appreciate any suggestions
Thank you 🙏

There are so many GI issues to deal with when one has AMY. Get some MRI, CT, gold standard profile labs… with AMY in order (be concerned), heart, kidneys, liver, pancreas, and, the other components to our body at a lesser degree. You were not clear as to why you had chemo, what your GI issues were and what the stem cells therapy were for. Speaking for myself….this aging process sucks! 💕

Janice! I am so happy for you! It hasn't been an easy journey for you with the SCT, but sounds like it was worth it! Wishing you continued improving health!!!

I think the chemo that they give you the day before the SCT before adding the new stem cells is what caused the issues in my GI track. Everything is settled down now. That chemo is pretty strong and fast acting. It wipes out your old bone marrow and within 24 hrs they put the new stem cells in. Pretty amazing. I’m sure the amyloids are still there just not giving me any problems now.

Hi Janice - I also have the Amy in my gut and dude. Coming up for a colonoscopy. although the chemo seems to have brought my production of Amy down to almost normal levels, my understanding is that because there is nothing yet on the market to remove the deposits already there, they will continue to remain there and cause havoc with affected organs. I'm surprised that your hematologist says the SCT has removed them. Hopefully, that is true!!!
