Hi Mark, I also have hATTR Amyloidosis type T60a also called “Donegal Amy”. This type is very common to a small coastal area of Donegal from Rosses, Gweedore and Cloughaneely areas which has also travelled with the descendants and diaspora to UK, USA, Australia. My personal belief, and some medical reports from international Amy experts who visited our areas reckon it also may be connected to the shipwrecked sailors of the Spanish Armada back in 1588. Myself and some other Donegal based patients have formed a patient’s support group on Facebook called Amyloidosis Ireland. Our website has loads of info and can be viewed at Amy.ie
All the best, Paddy Doherty, Gweedore, Co. Donegal

Try, I know it’s hard, not to focus on your prognosis. Take it one day at a time.

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Here are some key points about hereditary ATTR amyloidosis and your treatment:

- T60A Variant: This mutation is often seen in people of Irish descent and is associated with a later onset of symptoms, typically between ages 45 and 78, most commonly after age 60.

- Vutrisiran Show Full Answer

- T60A Variant: This mutation is often seen in people of Irish descent and is associated with a later onset of symptoms, typically between ages 45 and 78, most commonly after age 60.

- Vutrisiran (Amvuttra): This medication is one of the FDA-approved drugs that blocks the TTR gene from making amyloid protein, specifically for those with nerve problems.

- Neuropathy: This is a common symptom of hATTR amyloidosis, where the misfolded amyloid proteins affect the nerves.
