Can Amyloid Cause Cancer?

I was told that the drug cocktail that put me into remission is exactly what is given to multiple myeloma patients.

I don’t think it causes it. It can be related to multiple myeloma. Also some of the treatments could have an elevated risks.

Amyloidosis itself is not considered a type of cancer. However, there is some overlap between amyloidosis and blood cancers. For instance:

- AL amyloidosis is caused by abnormal plasma cells, which are also involved in certain blood cancers
- About 15 percent of people with multiple myeloma develop AL amyloidosis.
