Kidney Function During Chemo Treatment?
My husbands EGFR dropped from 37 to 27 after 3rd chemo treatment, has anyone else experienced this?
Hi Mary,
So glad to hear that Jim's GFR went back up, that's great! I feel like it is probably normal for their blood work to be all over the place in the first stages of treatment until everything gets settled down. Of course, I have no clue, but it makes me feel better to think that way.
This week Lorri took the following:
She takes most of her oral medication with her to treatment in a pill box so that she doesn't get charged facility prices for it.
Tylenol 650mg by mouth - over the counter
Benadryl 25mg by mouth - over the counter
Decadron 40mg by mouth - prescribed
Zofran 16mg by mouth - prescribed
Singular 10mg by mouth - administered by facility because they hadn't called it in to pharmacy yet.
Cytoxan 490mg IV infusion - administered by facility.
Velcade 2.75mg injection in abdomen - administered by facility.
Darzalex Faspro 1800mg injection in abdomen - administered by facility.
Port-a-cath is being put in on Wednesday in day surgery and her colonoscopy and EGD will be scheduled soon to check for amyloids there.
That a journey we all are on. Thank you, my friend for being there. ❤️
P.S. Give Ernie hugs & kisses for me!!
Mary as far as the colonoscopy see if the results would change treatment. If not, maybe they could hold off on it for awhile. Also when I had my colonoscopy back last September, I just did miralax. Because of my chronic diarrhea that’s all I had to do. It was totally ok. They were able to see everything. Maybe he doesn’t have to do that disgusting prep.
We are extremely fortunate in the aspect that he is 100% VA disabled, so we pay nothing for treatment. I always say you can find something good in something bad! Ernie said thank you😘
Good morning Angela!
Jim gets acetaminophen 650mg, Diphenhydramine 25mg & Dexamethasone 20mg by mouth before getting Bortezomid 2.3mg and
Dartumumab 1800mg administered into his abdomen.
Then he is given cyclophosphamide 500mg by mouth.
His kidney function improved from 27 to 34 between his 3rd and 4th chemo treatment. He has his colonoscopy on Thursday to check for amyloid with a cleanse that will protect his kidneys. It is a job to keep everything in order, but you can do it. We have to be their advocates and I take this seriously as I know you do. Hugs to you and prayers continuing🙏❤️
Hi Mary! I was thinking about you all this morning when we got the results of Lorri's bloodwork back. Today was her second treatment and her GFR dropped 4 pts. She went from 23 to 19, it was very concerning because the nurse contacted the doctor, and he decreased her Cytoxan from 660mg to 490mg. She is concerned that this is going to cause longer treatment. What dose does your husband take? She is schedule to get a port put in on Wednesday, which will be very helpful because they are having a time finding her veins to get blood and give her infusion. I also read where your husband is scheduled for a colonoscopy in November, they are going to schedule her one too and get biopsies done to see if there is any involvement there. How are treatments going? Hope you are doing well, and you are having pleasant trips to and from. Tons of hugs to you! 💗
