Anyone Taking Droxidopa For Low BP? Any Side Effects?

A MyAmyloidosisTeam Member asked a question 💭
Northern VA

Another new and very expensive drug and difficult for us to get.... Had to go through the appeal process with Medicare and then when it was approved it has taken nearly 30 days to find a pharmacy in NoVA that has it. CVS Specialty Pharmacy seems to be the only place we can get it, hopefully this week...

Hello MaryAnn
I have been taking Droxidopa for about 4 months now . It was very difficult to get approved. I get it FROM CVS specialty as well.
I have no side effects and it seems to be helping my low blood pressure issues. I was off of it for a few weeks after the first month due to insurance issues and I really noticed a difference in my energy level.
Hope this info helps.

Satish, it is for low BP/orthostatic hypotension and is Droxidopa. It is not specific for amyloidosis. Supposedly less toxic to the kidneys and more effective. Haven't started it yet.
