Anybody Have Any Tips On How To Deal With Postural Orthostatic Hypotension.
I’ve tried the sitting on the edge of the bed and waiting or waiting when I stand up from sitting. I’ve lowered my midodrine to 10 15 and 10. I really don’t want to increase it again. My cardiologist is actually trying to get me off of it. I was on 60 mg a day we’re trying to taper it down. I was doing well but now my bp is running low again
Sigh… prayers to you both 🙏❤️
Try to sit 5 minutes before you stand up, my neurologist said
My husband has struggled horribly with postural hypotension they tried a few drugs but because is caused by neurological vs cardiac he’s off the meds as they did nothing.
He just sits up slowly, sits on edge of things until he feels safe to stand. His gait is Also unstable due to the low blood pressure.
Such a horrible part of the disease.
Who has 5 minutes to wait? My husband has such urinary urge that he barely makes it when he transfers to the w/c and we RUSH to the bathroom. If he waits 30 seconds or more the orthostatic hypotension worsens. And his BP fluctuates so dramatically with any activity the drs won't put him on any other meds. I catch him at least 3 times a day. And if he doesn't wait for me then he is on the floor. I'm so afraid of fractures - hip, pelvis, ribs, already has fractured his shoulders and arms....
lol it’s so hard for me! I’m usually go go go! I feel it coming on during the day so I try to get to a chair or the floor quick. It’s getting up in the middle of the night that gets me into big trouble.
Thank you Chris! I’m glad to know that it’s possible for me to wean off these meds. Sometimes I feel like I’m going to be on them forever! The chemo is enough for me. I hate putting all these chemicals in my body 🙄
