Hello I Have A Sct Coming Up In April.
Hubby will be caregiver. Any helpful tips? Hubby doesn’t do housekeeper thing. We will be staying close to the H as I will be an outpatient also considered a low threshold patient . We will get a place with a kitchenette for sure . I’ll bring frozen low salt soups from home. Does anyone that has gone through this have any suggestions or helpful tips? Thank you 😊
It is short for stem cell treatment. I will be have an autologous (meaning use of my own stem cells) my stem cells will be taken from both arms then frozen until I have chemo ( a wk or two later) then on the day after the chemo they will put my collected stem cells back into me. I will have had injections to accelerate the growth of new stem cells leading up to the removal of them first.

I had SCT in March 2022. The best advice I can give you is, take it one day at a time, particularly after your mega-dose of chemo. You should expect a few rough days, but you’ll get through it. Recovery and getting yourself back to “normal” takes some time. Protein drinks were a big help during SCT as my appetite wasn’t good. Try as much as you can to walk a few minutes every day. I’m nearly two years post-SCT and overall doing pretty well. Best Wishes!
What is a Sct?
Yes I may need some big time help!!!!
Lol I think we may stay at a hotel now. The room has to be practically sterile at all times and hubby can order his food from the kitchen 🙌🏻 Problem solved 👌🏻
