Hi There! I'm Wondering If Anyone Has Some Recommendations To Help With Neuropathy Weakness And Pain?
I've been diagnosed this summer with HaTTR. My mom and grandma had it and after several years of symptoms, genetic testing finally confirmed.
Gabapentin and maybe some walking if it can be tolerated
I've been reading about medications that could help. I'm now dealing with arranging to see a neurologist in the spring 2025 to hopefully see if I can try medications that are available.
For managing neuropathy weakness and pain related to amyloidosis, consider the following recommendations based on my knowledge base:
- Medications: Diflunisal and tafamidis can help treat nerve pain by slowing the buildup of amyloid deposits on the nerves and other parts of the body
- Exercise: Regular exercise, such as Show Full Answer
I'm also taking Mirtazapine.
Gabapentin did make me constipated for a bit. I deal more with bowel cramps and diarrhea.
I'm on gabapentin. It helps to an extent, but still gets bouts of odd pains. Today I've got a new one! There's a spasm down the top of my thigh.
I can tolerate small bouts of walking and do my exercises when feeling good. But on days like today with this new spasm, feel it's a heating pad kind of morning.
