Heart tissue biopsies are not necessary and can miss tissues that contain amyloid deposits. PYP scintegraphy is the Gold Standard. That plus a kappa/lamda light protein check. Genetic testing, and 24 hour electrophoresis urine analysis for light chain proteins determine your type of Amyloidosis.
