Hi Jim 9,
My husband is in remission, receives maintenance chemo once a month now. He has all the blood work mentioned every month. Since it is not curable, but is treatable, we hope for the best. Happy to hear you are presently in remission. โค๏ธ

Try not to think about it Jim. Be happy with the remission and pray to God it lasts. I would imagine if the free light chains become abnormal something is up. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

To monitor for a return to active AL amyloidosis, doctors may use the following tests:

- Serum Free Light Chain (SFLC) Assay: This test measures the number of free light chains in the blood. An increase in free light chains may indicate a return to active disease
- Complete Blood Count (CBC): Regular CBCs can help monitor Show Full Answer

To monitor for a return to active AL amyloidosis, doctors may use the following tests:

- Serum Free Light Chain (SFLC) Assay: This test measures the number of free light chains in the blood. An increase in free light chains may indicate a return to active disease.
- Complete Blood Count (CBC): Regular CBCs can help monitor changes in blood cell levels, which might be affected by amyloidosis.
- Kidney Function Tests: Monitoring creatinine and urea levels can help assess kidney function, which amyloidosis can affect.
- Liver Function Tests: Checking for elevated alkaline phosphatase levels can indicate liver involvement.
- Heart Function Tests: Measuring cardiac biomarkers like troponin T, troponin I, BNP, or NT-proBNP can help monitor heart function.

Regular monitoring with these tests can help detect a return to active amyloidosis.

My numbers were really high too but theyโ€™ve come down. My BNP was 2200 now itโ€™s 1320 and my troponin is now normal.

Thanks for the support, prayers and kind thoughts. I am mostly concerned as at my first check my heart numbers very high. MY PCP is going to check my numbers frequently.
