There’s other blood markers that indicate but don’t prove the existence of amyloid deposits (aka fibrils). There’s a nuclear imaging process that provides active imaging where you can see the fibrils sparkling as they attach to, in my case, the heart. You still need the biopsy to complete the diagnostic package. Mayo or BostonMed can then confirm amyloidosis major (AL, ATTR, etc.) and minor (wild or hereditary for ATTR) variants.

JBernice, the most accurate way to determine if you have amyloidosis would be a heart biopsy. They put you under, then they go in through the right jugular. and it’s a very simple very safe procedure and then they’ve got that tissue, my doctors in Houston also mailed the tissue to the mayo clinic and they also confirmed that I have the wild type. Once again that is definitely the surest way to know.
