What Blood Pressure Medications Are Available For AATR-CM Wild Type?

A MyAmyloidosisTeam Member asked a question 💭
Montana Mines, WV

I'm in the 3rd phase of AATR-CMWT and my blood pressure has finally decided to head North. I have been told since day one that blood pressure management through medications was not conducive for AATR-CMWT with Afib because of the fibrous component of the rogue protein. Does anyone know of a medication that manages high blood pressure that they might recommend?
Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving-

Early 2024 I hope to explore a new relationship with what will be my 5th cardiologist. I intend to make the best of any opportunity that open its door, but honestly, my hope and trust is in other things not found in doctor offices or hospitals.
Thanks for your recommendations-

This is a daunting disease and doctors don't know everything that's for sure. Even here we get differing opinions and some doctors don't know about amyloidosis at all. It doesn't hurt to get second opinions and do some research on your own. Just remember Dr Google doesn't know everything either! I hope you can get some answers on your blood pressure. That is so important. Good luck!

Mary,

I'm glad to hear that Mac's new blood pressure meds are working good for him after the ablation. The disease itself is a progressive challenge and unfortunately where I live ((Montana) the medical community is oblivious to amyloidosis cardio-
myopathy and have absolutely no experience in dealing with the progressive shifts that compromise the ability of not only the heart, but various other organs in the body. The disease can be systemic that brings havoc wherever it hunkers down. My cardiolgist is not intersted in my progressive, and off the charts BNP. He believes this biomarker is without merit and does not provide any information of value. Welcome to my world!

I hope these 2 bp meds work for you. They seem to be working out well for Mac. Yes it seems the amlodopine and toporol are not right for amy patients.
