When The Lab Draws Blood, What Are They Monitoring?

A MyAmyloidosisTeam Member asked a question 💭
Westmoreland, TN

I have AL Amyloidosis. I go in for a chemo treatment (I start Monday) what are the technical terms and abbreviations for what they are looking for when they draw blood? Thank you, Mike 9

The electrophoresis is your free light chains. That checks your kappa lambda levels for AL.

The cbc complete blood count is to check your red blood cells or white blood cells among other things.

A cmp complete metabolic panel checks liver, kidney enzymes among other things. Whatever your organ involvement is that’s probably what they’re checking.
