Are There Doctors In The New York Area That Specialize In AA Type Amyloidosis?

A MyAmyloidosisTeam Member asked a question 💭
Nyack, NY

My brother is 85 years old and was diagnosed a few months ago. He has been told there is nothing to be done. He is unaware of any underlying illness that may have caused this.

Hi Sue2,
Try Columbia Doctors Hudson Valley-Suffern NY (Phone number can only be seen by the question and answer creators).
My husband has the wild type Amy and our cardiologist is at this location. They are affiliated(connected) with Columbia Presbyterian in NYC.
I don’t know if they take AA patients.

Thank you Loise. I called and they referred me to a new patient number. The woman there was unfamiliar with the AA type and took my number to call me back.

Thanks for replying. I did contact Hackensack University Hospital which was listed on this site but they were very pleasant but unhelpful, saying they had no info on amyloidosis. I will try the other hospitals. My brother has been to many doctors but none that specialize in this.
