How Can A Drug Company Get Away With Unreasonable Price For A Drug, Get Away With It ?
Because they only care about making a huge profit and taking advantage of people
Good response, Loise. My comment about buying stock was a 'tongue in cheek' comment. I have been investing for 66 years and have stayed away from Big Pharma due to their volatility and generally finding better stocks. And, yes, I quite believe that losses are distributed across the board with Big Pharma. I do have a cycling friend who cannot afford the prescribed meds so his doctor worked with the drug company to get him the meds at no cost--this does happen. You might have noticed that I like to look at both sides of an issue. Just imagine your being the CEO of a drug company and the decisions to be made--being the CEO of one of these drub companies should pay well because I see minimal enjoyment in such job. And of course, life matters and should come first. Nice response.
Before we all pile on to the drug companies, imagine that you are the CEO of one of these companies. Sometimes the company will have to abandon a drug due to its failure to solve the targeted health problem. Overall, the drug company needs to be profitable in order to stay in business. So they will have to eat the losses incurred in failed drugs. Of course, this does not condone an unreasonable high price for a new drug, And of course, if a drug has an unreasonable high price, it will not be purchased much--an issue that CEOs face who run drug companies. I am taking 18 meds and am thankful that they are available and affordable--drugs most likely developed by these same 'awful' drug companies.
And by the way, if a drug company is making huge profits, buy their stock and participate in the profit!
