Is There An Effective Sleeping Drug To Counter The Affects Of 40 Mg Of Dexamethasone?
I have been taking 40 mg of Dexamethasone once a wk with my 2 chemo drugs, MYBORPRE regime. Has anyone discovered a good sleeping drug that counters the effects of the steroid at the day 1/2 mark of taking the steroid? I can only seem to get 4/41/2 hrs of sleep at a time using zoplicone 5mg or Benadryl 50mg (not taken together) and find it hard to fall back to sleep once I’ve woken. I walk daily and watch what I eat including leaving 3 plus hrs between eating dinner and bedtime.
Hi Janice....I always take 40 MG of Dex on treatment day. Then 20mg the two days following. Temazapan is my sleep salvation. Very effective especially if used only on your Dex nights. Also comes in 15mg capsules. Tell your Dr to prescribe 30. If he balks ask for 15. Good luck
Ask your doctor to reduce your Dex to 20 mg. Most amy patients cannot tolerate the 40 mg dose.
After Ambien proved to strong for me, the doctor put me on Trazadone which works great. I take one tablet and close my eyes. It usually keeps me sleep for 4-6 hours.
The Dr me on Ambien. It worked great as far as putting me to sleep but I still woke up in the middle of the night
Thank you for the tip Dan2!
My Dex dose has been cut in half now to 20mg. Hopefully my next bloodwork is still good 👍🏻
I love less Dex 🙌🏻 I’ve been taking 25mg Benadryl on the first 2 nights after the Dex dose. It seems to work. The odd time I’ll take an actual sleeping pill, zoplicone which I try not to cus of my kidneys.
