My Dad Has Al Amyloidosis. He Is On His 5th Chemo Session. He Is So Lethargic After Chemo & Sleeps Most Of The Day. Is That Expected?
Hello Jennifer. Remember that we all are different, and we came into this amyloidosis situation from different life styles. I also have AL amyloidosis but I arrived being physically fit, having just completed 100,000 bicycling miles. That said, I went through the Chemotherapy with minimal bothersome side effects. I am now almost a year after completing the weekly Chemo procedures and, yes, I still am enjoying a couple of naps each day. This is likely also due to my not sleeping well at night. I usually get up to have breakfast around 8 to 8:30, sit down to work on computer, and quite quickly start nodding off. Ultimately, if your dad continues to sleep most of the day, I would check with your doctor.
Yes, Mary I started a monthly maintenance plan upon completion of the weekly chemo. I had hoped to gradually shrink the meds I am taking, but the doctors are reluctant to have me do much. Just recently I have decreased the diuretic and the medodrine (sp).
Vern, did you get monthly maintenance treatment after finishing the weekly chemo?
